Attorney Profile
Doris S. Mei grew up in Chicago, IL and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication from The George Washington University in Washington, D.C. on a scholarship and as a Dean's List recipient.
While obtaining her law degree from the University of San Francisco School of Law, Doris was a summer research clerk for the Office of the Chief Judge for the Circuit Court of Cook County in Chicago, IL, and a judicial extern for the Hon. Edward Chen of the U.S. District Court, Northern District of CA in San Francisco, CA. Aside from obtaining judicial experience, Doris concentrated her efforts throughout law school in Family Law.
As a family law attorney, Doris has assisted hundreds of clients in Alameda, San Mateo, and Santa Clara Counties in preparing premarital agreements, resolving contested and uncontested divorces, legal separations, dissolution of domestic partnerships, child custody, visitation, child support, spousal support, property division, and marital settlement agreements.
During consultations and legal representations, Doris strives to provide informative advice and guidance to help clients fully weigh their options and risks in making decisions for their case. Doris is also dedicated in providing the most cost effective services while achieving optimum results.
In her spare time, Doris enjoys working with non-profits and giving back to the community. Doris is currently a volunteer and a member of the Board of Advisors for Charity Cultural Services Center, a San Francisco non-profit serving new immigrants and their families in vocational training, youth services, and environmental education.
In August 2004, Doris co-founded and established the Professional Alliance for Community Services (PACS), with the objective of encouraging more professionals in the legal and health fields in volunteering and increasing the accessibility of professional assistance to the underserved. Through their Community Action Day events, PACS professional legal and health volunteers provide free legal and dental education, workshops and assistance to the underserved communities throughout the Bay Area in English, Chinese, and Spanish, and raise their levels of understanding of the local legal and health systems.
Doris is a member of the Family Law Section of the California State Bar Association. She fluently speaks Chinese Mandarin, Cantonese, and Shanghainese.
